ABOUT FireAID GRANTS & MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
The Music Industry Mental Health Fund’s FireAid Grants are available to music industry professionals and their families to assist with the cost of outpatient mental health support resulting from the devastating impact of the LA wildfires. In addition, this program provides a full spectrum of mental health resources, plans for care, follow-up care, and wrap-around healthcare resources for those directly impacted by the LA fires.
The Music Industry Mental Health Fund provides:

- FireAid Mental Health Grants: Allocation of $2,000 per client (in $1,000 increments) from the Music Industry Mental Health Fund for qualified candidates (see qualifications below).
- Individual Mental Health Provider Recommendations: Recommendations to appropriate, vetted, and licensed mental health professionals (outpatient counselors, psychologists & psychiatrists) based on the client’s specific needs.
- Funding Resource Recommendations: Guidance to ensure continuity of care through additional financial and mental health support as needed.
- Follow-Up Care: Proactive follow-up from the MHA mental health team as grant nears completion to assess additional needs, establish follow-up care plans, and coordinate next steps to ensure continuity of care and effective mental health support until the music industry professional’s needs are successfully managed or resolved.

QUALIFICATIONS & APPLICATION
Qualifications for the Music Industry Mental Health Fund :
- Applicants must have made a living in the music industry (at least 50% of income) for 3+ years.
- Experienced personal loss or devastation due to the LA Fires.
- Financial need due to the personal devastation/loss from LA Fires.

- All applications are 100% confidential and bound by HIPAA Privacy Guidelines.
- Upon approval, grants of up to $2,000 will be paid directly to the service provider, clinic, or facility.
- If the need exceeds the grant allocation, we can connect you to additional grant resource options.
- Music Industry Mental Health Fund requires mental health providers to be licensed in their field of expertise to receive grant support. Life coaches and unlicensed mental health providers are not eligible for support from this fund.
- Only outpatient therapy and FDA approved modalities of outpatient mental health treatment can be supported by the Music Industry Mental Health Fund.

- DiDi Hirsh – Free mental health services for those who have lost homes, suffered displacement, and who have been heroic first responders.

- Support Group
- The Grief Circle– A free virtual support group for anyone directly affected by the LA wildfires focusing on working through grief. They meet every Saturday.
- Coping Guides
- UCLA Guide to Wildfires– A resource guide for caregivers and educators helping children heal after the Wildfires with tips and resources for self-care, coping strategies, and prevention measures. Published in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Please note that this guide is not a replacement for therapy or support with a licensed professional.
- APA Coping After Disaster Guide– American Psychiatric Association’s guide for adults and children coping with disaster. This guide normalizes reactions and emotions, offers steps to aid in emotional recovery, and provides reading resources for psychoeducation. Please note that this guide is not a replacement for therapy or support from a licensed professional.
MHA’S WRAP-AROUND HEALTHCARE ACCESS & RESOURCES
MHA’s programs and services are available to anyone who has made a living in the music industry for at least 3 years and includes their spouses and dependents from birth to end of life. In the last 12 years MHA has served 32,000 music industry professionals saving over $145 million in healthcare costs
MHA’s Wrap-Around Healthcare Access & Resources include:

- Health Insurance: Assistance obtaining affordable and comprehensive health insurance
- Medical Bill Negotiation: Negotiating down crippling medical debt
- Healthcare System Navigation and Recommendations: Navigation through healthcare options or a diagnosis plan of care development and coordination; provider recommendations for all areas of medical need from primary care to physical therapy; end-of-life planning.
- MHA Financial Assistance: MHA has five internal funds to assist music industry professionals with emergent senior care needs, emergent dental care, diagnostic care, and emergent medical care not covered by health insurance.
- Healthcare Advocacy: MHA’s team of advocates work on behalf of music industry professionals to gain access to life saving and sustaining medical care including by appealing insurance denials, ensuring that no one is alone through their healthcare crisis or need. We also provide additional funding resource recommendations as part of our full-range of care planning.
